To get admission for master’s degree, bachelor’s degree and English language certificate is necessary. Certain universities require an average GPA of 14 or higher in undergraduate and also acceptable band score in English skill tests (6.5 band score in IELTS). Master’s degree in Malaysia takes 2 to 3 years.
study for PHD in Malaysia :
Getting admission in this level needs all university and language skill certificates and also a resume and motivation letter (SOP). Normally getting accepted in this level requires a GPA of 15 or higher and your IELTS band score must be 7. This course takes 3 to 5 years in Malaysia.
Work while studying in Malaysia :
International students studying in Malaysia are allowed to work part time. According to the law of Malaysia, students can work maximum amount of 20 hours a week. Before starting, the student should notify the student visa officer at the International Office.

Yearly tuitions for undergraduate is on average 7000 MYR and for master’s is approximately 11000 MYR. Step by step getting a Malaysian student visa :
Step one : Getting a certificate of acceptance from the selected university
After research and review of courses and universities in Malaysia, select the course you want. Send out the required documents and receive the certificate of acceptance from the university.
Step two: visa approval letter (VAL) from Malaysian immigration agency Required documents for VAL:
- University admission certificate
- Passport (passport mustn’t be less than 24 months old)
- Passport picture
- Medical examination form
- Visa application fee (this fee is not the same in all universities and the amount of it is mentioned in admission certificate.)
Step three : Single Entry Visa (SEV) application
To get the application you must send following documents to the embassy of Malaysia in your country:
- Copy of university admission certificate
- Copy of Visa Approval Letter (VAL)
- Passport and its copy
- Passport picture
- Flight ticket to Malaysia
